FRAGMENTS OF ANTIQUITY

PROMOTION
SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN
Fragments of Antiquity is a film festival centering around education about the ancient past through cinema. A logo, social media campaign, film poster, and official merchandise were created to promote the event, which would be taking place in Washington, DC’s Smithsonian Museums. Each day of the festival would feature movies from different ancient empires (Roman, Greek, and Egyptian), and a panel discussing the accuracy of the movies featuring historians would take place. There is utilization of mosaic and weathered textures, as well as a consistent color scheme running across the final products.

A film poster is created for the film festival for the movie Ben-Hur. With it being set in the ancient Roman empire, typefaces inspired by antiquity became the primary focus of the poster. The headline, “We Will Rise Again” is a quote from the film and is hand-manipulated using a photograph of mosaic rocks arranged in the form of the letters. The arch at the top of the composition was also created using this method. A horse, a recurring element of the film, is hand-drawn and overlaid by a mosaic texture to match the style of the headline and arch. This film would be one of many featured in the “Fragments of Antiquity Film Fest”.
